The Eternal Ganga

The River Made of Rivers

The Eternal Ganga: the river Ganga and its tributaries traced in fine blue and gold lines on warm ivory, from the Himalaya across the plains to the sea

The Eternal Ganga · 2026 · Preview, reduced in size

The Eternal Ganga follows the river and the tributaries that make it great, traced along their true courses from satellite imagery and open geographic data, then drawn by hand, every centimetre of it.

No great river flows alone. The Ganga carries a civilisation because hundreds of smaller rivers carry it first: streams from the Himalaya, rivers from the plains, each giving its water and its story. This work honours all of them, the famous and the unnamed, as one living body of water.

Traced in gold, the river speaks of another flow too: prosperity, like water, grows strongest when many streams become one.

Vastu placement

Where the Ganga belongs

In Vastu Shastra, every direction of a home is governed by an element. Water belongs to the North-East, the zone the texts call Ishanya, associated with clarity and new beginnings.

Best wall
The North-East wall of the room, or the North-East zone of the home. If that wall is not available, the North wall is the next best choice.
Rooms
Living room, entrance foyer, study or home office, and a meditation or prayer space.
Avoid
The South-East and South walls, which belong to fire. Many practitioners also advise against water imagery in the bedroom.
Hanging
Centre the artwork at eye level, roughly 150 cm from the floor. As a landscape work, it suits a wide wall above a sofa or console, with space on either side.

Vastu Shastra is a traditional system of spatial harmony. These notes follow its classical principles and are offered as guidance for placement, not as a promise of any particular outcome.

What you receive

The digital edition

  • Four print files as lossless TIFF, in colour prepared for print: the artwork's native 4:3 shape and a wider 3:2, each clean and with the title beneath the artwork.
  • A gold mask for each shape, so studios that offer metallic ink or foil can print the gold as real gold. For a standard print, simply ignore it.
  • The Collector's Folio, with the story of the work, its placement notes and guidance for printing.
  • A certificate of authenticity with its own number, issued in your name and recorded in our registry.

The artwork is never cropped and never resized. Files are for personal use: print them for your own home, or as a gift. Interior designers and studios can buy a commercial licence (₹14,999) by writing to hello@eternalelementia.com.
